How it works
Three connections, and then you stop thinking about it.
- 1Split the tap.
The two-way splitter screws onto your outdoor tap. One outlet keeps your normal hose, the other feeds the fountain, and each side has its own lever — so you are not choosing between watering the garden and watering the dog.
- 2Run the line.
The included 39-inch braided hose goes from the splitter to the plate. Set the plate flat on grass, patio or decking. Four rubber feet stop it sliding when he leans on it.
- 3Let him find it.
The plate is 8.6 inches across with a raised paw graphic on top. Underneath is a 1.1-inch spring valve: paw down opens it, paw off shuts it. Most dogs work it out within a few minutes of watching you press it by hand.
You set the flow. The splitter levers adjust how hard the jet comes up, and shut the fountain off completely when you do not want it running.

Will my dog actually figure it out?
Most do, quickly. The usual method is to press the pedal yourself a few times while he watches, then leave him to it — the raised paw graphic gives him something obvious to put a foot on. What does it connect to?
A garden hose, or a threaded outdoor faucet, through the two-way splitter in the box. If your outdoor tap does not take a standard hose fitting you will need an adapter, and we do not supply one. The connecting hose in the box is 39 inches, so the plate sits close to the tap unless you run it off the end of a longer hose.
Can I still use my hose?
Yes — that is what the splitter is for. One outlet stays on your normal hose, the other feeds the fountain, and each has its own lever so you can shut either one off independently.
How hard does the water come out?
You set it with the splitter lever, the same way you would throttle a hose. Open it a little at first and see what he is comfortable with before opening it further.
What happens in winter?
Disconnect it, drain the line and bring it inside before the first frost. This is an outdoor product sitting on a water line: water left inside it during a freeze will damage it, and that is not something a return or a warranty covers anywhere. Treat it as a spring-to-autumn fixture.
Will it rust?
